ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Department of Cardiology comprises of 02 OPD Rooms,1 demonstration room, 10 Bedded CCU,20 BEDS General cardiology unit, Skill lab, ETT Lab, 02 ECG rooms.01 Echocardiography room and 01 Holter monitor room. Our skill lab is well-equipped with audiovisual and mannequins with other training aids. The department is subscribed with active wifi and computer and books library. The Department motivates students to take an active role in large group discussions, small group discussions and research activities. Postgraduate training programs and research are undertaken in tandem with other medicine and allied departments, under close supervision. Additionally, it aims to support postgraduate research programs and to give the CPSP postgraduate researchers a platform to publish their research work in reputable national and international journals. Yearly the department attends to 100000 to 120000 patients yearly on data from OPD ,Emergency and in ward admission.

ABOUT THE COURSES

The undergraduate Cardiology course encompasses Cardiovascular Physiology, Clinical Cardiology, Electrocardiography, Echocardiography, Cardiovascular Pathophysiology, and Applied Cardiology. Students gain hands-on experience through case discussions, clinical rotations in the CCU and general cardiology unit, ECG and echocardiography interpretation, and exposure to diagnostic modalities like Holter monitoring and exercise tolerance testing (ETT). In line with the PMDC curriculum, cardiology is integrated with other basic and clinical subjects to present a holistic view of cardiovascular structure, function, and disease processes. Special emphasis is placed on clinical applications, pathophysiological correlations, and evidence-based management of cardiovascular disorders.
