INTEGRATION OF SEX AND GENDER EDUCATION IN THE MBBS CURRICULUM

A two-day academic workshop on the **“Integration of Sex and Gender Education in the MBBS Curriculum”** was successfully conducted on **27th and 28th April 2026** at the **Smart Classroom, KIMS Kohat**.
The primary objective of the workshop was to emphasize the importance of incorporating sex and gender-based perspectives into undergraduate medical education. Recognizing the growing need for future physicians to deliver equitable and inclusive healthcare, the sessions focused on enhancing participants’ understanding of biological sex differences and gender-related health determinants.
The workshop brought together faculty members, medical educators, and students, fostering an interactive learning environment. A series of lectures, group discussions, and practical activities were organized to address key themes such as gender-sensitive communication, disparities in healthcare access, and the impact of sex and gender on disease presentation, diagnosis, and treatment.
Participants actively engaged in case-based learning and collaborative discussions, which helped bridge theoretical knowledge with clinical application. Special emphasis was placed on integrating these concepts into existing MBBS modules in a structured and sustainable manner.
The workshop concluded with a feedback session, where participants appreciated the relevance and timeliness of the topic. Recommendations were made to incorporate sex and gender education longitudinally across the MBBS curriculum to ensure continuous learning and improved patient care outcomes.
Overall, the workshop was a valuable initiative in promoting a more inclusive, evidence-based, and patient-centered approach to medical education at KIMS Kohat.
